NEWS WORLD: R.I.P. Dorothy Height
Famed social activist and civil rights leader, Dr. Dorothy Height, passed this morning at Howard University Hospital. She was 98 years old.
Dorothy Height, a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., earned the Presidential Medal of Freedom, and was a recipient of the Congressional Gold Medal. Even with her health deminishing, my Soror worked hard for what she believed in and remained a very active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Listen to her speak on the more current state of racial affairs in America and her optimism for change.
Dorothy Height served as President of the National Council for Negro Women for more than 40 years. She worked with former Presidents Eisenhower and Johnson. She was even honored by President Barack Obama. Dorothy Height’s true reach is immeasurable.
I hope I was able to provide a brief synopsis of the significance of losing such an influential and inspirational member of the Black and global community. There is so much more information available about her. Simply enter her name in Google and make sure you familiarize yourself.
Peace and Blessings to Dr. Dorothy Irene Height and her family and friends.
