NEWS WORLD: Haiti… What Can We Do? *UPDATED*

In the wake of the recent earthquake in Haiti, it seems irrelevant to discuss anything but the current state of disaster and peril the country and its people are experiencing.

No need to revisit what has occurred as it has been internationally broadcast since the earthquake hit.

I can provide some recent positive updates and tell you how you can help. Anything you can give would be of great assistance. Even the infrastructure of the capital has been compromised.

The world as a whole as been showing an outpouring of support for Haiti. According the CNN last night, the average Haitian person only makes $1 a day, making it one of the poorest countries in the world.

Businesses and world leaders have used this opportunity to show their true nature by supporting Haiti in its time of need.

UPS is NOT providing free shipping to packages under 50 lbs being sent to Haiti. They are donating up to $1 Mil for relief efforts though.

Red Cross is accepting $10 donations if you text “HAITI” to 90999 to support relief efforts in Haiti. The donation will be added to your phone bill.

Wyclef also has a program set up where you can text “Yele” to 501501 to donate $5 to YELE HAITI. The donation will be added to your phone bill.

American Airlines is NOT taking doctors and nurses to Haiti for free. But, American and American Eagle sent three planes carrying 30,000 pounds of water, food and other stuff for its more than 100 employees who work at the airport there and for assistance at Port-au-Prince hospitals.
